Pulstario is an arcade-style game developed by the Fred Wood studio, available for Android devices at a price of $0.99. This game is actually the third release from the indie studio Fred Wood, aiming to deliver an engaging experience through simple gameplay. Although it is a small indie game, Pulstario offers a lot for its size. Aside from the description text, there is little to say about the story. You control what appears to be a spaceship whose sole mission is to find and deliver wandering spirits scattered across the galaxy. The storyline is summarized in these few lines and, like many other games, serves mainly as a reason to progress through the levels. The controls are very simple and easy to master. You can move the spaceship left and right and also perform a full rotation. Additionally, you can increase or decrease the spaceship’s speed. Although the controls are simple, they might initially be challenging and a bit confusing. However, this will last no more than 30 seconds, after which you will get the hang of it. The wandering spirits appear as blinking squares in the game, and you must find your way through the levels to collect them all. Each level is more difficult than the previous one, but the difficulty progression is balanced and not frustrating. Even in Unlimited mode, you can easily complete the game in under 30 minutes.
However, this does not mean the game is boring or tedious. On the contrary, Pulstario maintains the roots and authenticity of a classic arcade game, requiring significant effort to succeed. The game’s soundtrack is an impressive EP by Retfoniq, unique in its style and highly memorable. Additionally, the sound effects are well-crafted and add much to the game’s atmosphere. Visually, the game’s graphics are pleasant with a classic retro style. Considering all the content this game offers, it can be described as an entertaining and addictive game that fills leisure time well.
