Deranged is a story-driven game with a mysterious and horror atmosphere in the adventure genre, developed by the unknown studio Invention Games. The story revolves around a kidnapping case and the disappearance of several people outside the city. Because of this incident, two detectives named Sarah and John are assigned to visit the reported locations and investigate this strange case. After some time investigating, they find clues leading to an old and large mansion called Mordiz. A place that seems to have been abandoned and uninhabited for years, but after entering the mansion grounds and a short exploration, they realize this is not the case. They maintain wireless communication with the police center and send real-time reports, but suddenly their connection is lost and they disappear without a trace! After this news, you play as Edward, Sarah’s brother. He goes to the mansion Mordiz, the place where they disappeared, to find his sister. Edward suffers from schizophrenia and does not have a stable mental balance. Now it is up to you to step into this ominous mansion as Edward and follow the story of Sarah and John’s disappearance. What makes Deranged interesting story-wise is the main character’s illness. This aspect is well integrated into the game, and you cannot tell if the events unfolding are real or creations of Edward’s troubled mind. This is not an easy question to answer. Nevertheless, the developer deserves praise for this intriguing combination.
Most of the events in Deranged take place within this mansion. Some occur in the outdoor area, while most happen in the halls, rooms, and corridors inside. The game’s suitable graphics with 3D designs give you the feel of a console game. Inspired by the famous Resident Evil series, Deranged features third-person gameplay. You control the character using a virtual controller on the screen and interact with main items or use tools and weapons via buttons on the right side. Throughout the game, you encounter several characters, but your main fear comes from monsters and zombie-like humans who attack without warning. You can shoot them with your handgun and take them down. Remember, headshots deal the most damage. Another interesting aspect of Deranged is the presence of entertaining and mysterious puzzles that add to the game’s enigmatic atmosphere.
