Space Grunts – Space Rookies is an interesting game from the well-known Dutch studio OrangePixel in the strategy and action genre, offered as a paid game for $3.99 on the Google Play Store. Other popular titles from OrangePixel include Meganoid , Ashworld, Gunslugs: Rogue Tactics, and Heroes of Loot. If you are familiar with these games, you will notice a common feature in all of them and generally in all games from this studio: pixel art and 8-bit design. The studio even uses this concept in its name. Space Grunts is designed and developed with the same approach. This game is a fast-paced turn-based strategy gameplay. It offers simple yet rich and exciting adventure content. The story takes place in the year 2476. When Earth’s space federation, due to depletion of Earth’s resources, begins a major effort to build and establish moon-like bases in various parts of the galaxy to utilize resources from other planets. After years, one of these bases starts sending emergency signals to the command center. The federation assigns a team to investigate and resolve the issue by sending them to the base.
In Space Grunts, you play as this intergalactic patrol team who receive the order and head to the specified location to investigate. Your mission seems simple, but the real situation is far more dangerous than expected. You must reach the designated moon-base and navigate through special paths inside it to reach the core of the base. However, many threats and challenges stand in your way, preventing you from completing the task easily. Alien creatures, robots, and intelligent defense systems that are now malfunctioning create obstacles that make your mission difficult. But you are not without equipment! You start with the default weapons of the Space Grunts team and can discover valuable weapons and items along the way. The developer states there are multiple ways to complete the game, with each ending depending on player choices. However, the final story outcome is the same. Can you overcome the threats?
