Fighting Fantasy Legends Portal is a role-playing and story-driven game from Asmodee Digital for popular Android devices. You find yourself in the corridors of a dungeon with a closed door in front of you. You hear sounds… Is someone asking for help? Or trying to warn you? What do you do? Fighting Fantasy Legends Portal is an adaptation of the successful and bestselling Fighting Fantasy book series. The game is just like the book’s story; you either progress through the story or die in battle. But the difference lies in the game mechanics. Each character has special abilities (Skill, Stamina, Luck) and faces challenges by rolling dice. To start, you choose one of three game stories (Death Trap, Trial of Champions, Armies of Death), with only Death Trap unlocked initially and the others locked. The gameplay is decision-based. You select one of three characters and enter an unknown land. Once inside the dungeon, you must decide which way to go, which door to open, or which door to avoid! Every choice has a consequence, which could be finding treasure, triggering a trap, fighting monsters, and more.
In Fighting Fantasy Legends Portal, you face trial and error, and since the game pushes you forward, usually there is no turning back, but if you die, you return to the start of the dungeon. When you encounter a challenge, such as falling into a trap, fighting monsters, or entering a question mark zone, you must roll dice. Challenges are indicated by a card. You have two sets of dice in red and green; red dice are used for combat and green dice to test your luck. Successfully overcoming challenges allows you to upgrade your dice and increase your power. Each die has one face, and by upgrading, you can add another face. Sometimes cards show treasure or healing potions instead of traps or monsters, which you can add to your inventory. Gameplay-wise, this game offers an excellent digital version of the Fighting Fantasy series. The top-down view showing the character’s movement in the dungeon, along with background music and various graphical and sound effects, creates an engaging atmosphere.
